About Michael Hillinger

Michael Hillinger has over 20 years experience developing interactive, technology-based media. Through his research in cognitive psychology, Hillinger learned how to develop effective technology around instructional goals. As a result, he is able to match technology to the needs of instruction.

He used this knowledge during his tenure at Houghton Mifflin Publishing. As Executive Editor at the Educational Software Division, he designed or supervised several major instructional programs to teach reading, science, and math.

Since founding LexIcon Systems in 1989, Dr. Hillinger has continued to blend his knowledge of human cognition with the evolving tools of information technology. In addition to private clients, he has done several research and development projects with The Department of the Navy, the National Science Foundation, and others.

At LexIcon Systems, we create interactivity, useful interactivity, interactivity that helps people understand and learn. It could be pre-existing material (text, video, graphics) repurposed into a value-added instructional experience. It could be web-delivered training available for one user or one thousand. Whether working with university researchers, large businesses, or publishers, the issue is the same: How can we use technology in a way that makes sense?

We can help you answer that question. Do you have training that could be done more efficiently on the web? Is your current computer based training uninspiring? Would you like a fresh perspective on the most effective way to structure your current training assets? LexIcon can help.
